Timing - Why does the schedule only span three years to 2018 yet people can stay in their homes until 2020?

Update #2 of the schedule is at 19 February 2016 and represents three years of intensive demolition activity for properties which have been surrendered to the ACT Government through the voluntary Buyback and Demolition Programs.

Properties where contracts have been exchanged with an extended settlement arrangement are scheduled to be demolished after mid-2018 or in existing schedules where efficiencies allow.

The ACT Government''s first advice, which is informed by experts, remains that homeowners should leave Mr Fluffy properties immediately and the Buyback Program supported this through the government offering to purchase all houses as at 28 October 2014.

However it remains possible through the government's flexible settlement arrangements for owners to remain in houses to 30 June 2020, with Asbestos Management Plan arrangements in place.
