Personal Support Team
The Personal Support Team are experienced case coordinators and community engagement officers who work individually with families seeking assistance as part of the Loose Fill Asbestos Insulation Eradication Scheme.
- connects people with community support
- regularly engages with community service partners to improve outcomes
- provides information and advice
- meets with individuals affected by residential loose fill asbestos insulation
- may visit neighbours of Mr Fluffy houses prior to their demolition
The team has been integral in supporting homeowners through the initial response following asbestos assessments of properties, during the buyback process, the demolition and in providing linkages for social recovery.
Members of the team have diverse experience in case management. They come from work environments including disaster recovery, mental health, housing and homelessness, crisis services, children and young people, therapy, people with disabilities, drug and alcohol issues, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Taskforce has negotiated practical support from utilities, community organisations and businesses. This includes advice and support about real estate matters, legal services, buying or rebuilding a home, gardening and replacing household items.
